Krystal finishes 6th in Kiel Week Germany ISAF Grade One

Krystal finishes 6th in Kiel Week Germany ISAF Grade One. This years Kiel Week started off as your typical windy yet cold regatta. It was a slow start for the Radial race course as the race committee had trouble setting the marks, so after an hour of mucking around and all of us just sitting and waiting in the cold we were off. We got three great races in, I finished the day with a 7,2 and should have been one but I decided to do an extra lap. So for the worlds all courses will be permanently written onboard my boat. It was a good lesson for me. For the next couple of days Fletch got very good at towing me out to the race course...

Australian Institute of Sport Base Camp Italy

Currently at the AIS Base in Varese, Italy for a team Fitness Camp before I head to my next ISAF Grade One event in Kiel, Germany.  After Holland Regatta I had a small break heading south to Pompei and Naples to do some touring and time away from training before hitting the gym in the North.  Over the past week I have been gyming twice a day x1 Cardio and x1Weights with Head AIS Strength and Conditioning Coach Julian and Mike Plush AIS Physiotherapist overseeing my program.  It has been great to mingle in with other sports, Womens Water polo have been demonstrating the ICOOL for us while the Mens U23 Canoeing team pushed me out onto Lago di Comabbio in an extremely tippy canoe. I only made...

by Craig Heydon 5:36 AM Mon 31 May 2010 Krystal Weir powered home in the Laser Radial fleet, finishing the medal race in fourth position to move up to fifth overall in her return to the class. It was a great fight back from Weir who found herself rounding the top mark last on the second beat. Weir was still at the back of the fleet at the bottom mark and then headed to the right of the course which paid off as she moved through the fleet to fourth at the finish. 8:26 AM Sun 30 May 2010 After two years away from the class Krystal Weir’s great return to the Laser Radials continued as she finished with a seventh and a hard fought fourth to remain sixth...

Krystal finish's 5th in her first ISAF Grade One- Holland Regatta

Hi All, I have just finished Holland Regatta in Medemblik and for my first big international regatta I just couldn’t be happier with my result. I ended up 5th overall just putting some pressure on the front girls. We had a large range of conditions from 15knots + to drifting 3knots. I have always loved competing in Holland, minus the cold… it is a cute town, happy people and loads of bicycles. We had a great support next work with us at this event and it definitely showed. The Australian Sailing Team was so successful with 2 Golds, 1 Silver and 2 Fifths…so the whole team was in the top 5. Fletch and I feel this is a great start to my campaign towards London with only...
