Krystal finishes first at Pre-Spring Regatta at Double Bay Sailing Club on Sydney Harbour. It is great to be home! I have been back in Australia for a week and I just couldn’t help myself. Double Bay Sailing Club was having there annual sprint regatta over two days 21-22nd August. It is a great little club tucked inside the harbour right near the Sydney Harbour Bridge. As Sydney Harbour is well populated, all the building provided a great funneling effect for the breeze. It is certainly a tricky venue with shifts from all directions. Day One was 20+ knots with gusts to 30knots, quite a few people went for a couple of swims and I have to say I was close at times.  I finished the day with a 1,2,1,2. It was great...

Sail For Gold 2010

Sail For Gold has proved to be a very positive event for me leading into a training block over the next three months. It was disappointing to not get into the Medal Race due to a blackflag on the last race but the benefits far outway it.   I had a mixed regatta with plenty of ups and downs. After only having been back in the class for 6months it is encourageing to be up there with the best girls in the world. Sail for Gold 3rd and 8th on Day One

I finished today with a 3rd and 8th at Sail For Gold, UK. We had a great breeze from the SW at 15knots. I started the regatta with a great start and first work upwind, I was able to hold off the other girls and finish with a third. The second race wasnt so straight forward as I had a bad start. I then climbed my way back to 5th before heading the wrong way on the downwind as I sliped back to 11th. On the last lap I climbed up to finish 8th. I was able to practice and learn a few new tricks, looking forward to some more high level sailing tomorrow....

Weymonth Pre-Training

In sunny Weymonth for the start of the Sail for Gold event starting today. I arrived into Weymonth three days ago in preparation for sailing in the "Sail for Gold" regatta. Day one I arrived down the yacht club for 30knot+ gusts with a 25knot average, with these types of conditions I soon forgot about the jetlag problem, rigged up and screamed out to the starting area. We all sailed out for 30min downwind towards the course area in a lot of breeze so you can image how far the course is away from the harbour (LONG way). We had a great day with 30girls out racing, I was going fast so no worries with speed. Day Two we had a short traning session just outside the harbour...
