Laser 4.7 Transition Team 2021

It has been an amazing adventure these past 6 weeks with a record number of sailors joining my transition program. All 14 sailors have been committed to learning new skills, getting out of their comfort zone and giving everything a go! It has been my goal to give back to a class that has given me so much! I have been coaching Laser 4.7 since 2015 and have enjoyed seeing all my sailors walking away with a giant smile and enthusiasm to get back on the water. This is my last year coaching this program and I hope that the focus of what this program set out to achieve will continue. Thanks again to every parent and sailor in my program past and present. Happy Sailing Krystal ...

I am really excited to announce that my long term sponsor Veolia is now onboard as a partner for the 'Laser Girls Victorian Team' in the 4.7 class. "To help get us on the water we desperately needed a motor for our new boat Brig motor boat. Veolia has been an incredible supporter of my sailing for many years. There dedication & support is amazing! They have played a critical role in helping support the next generation of young female sailors"- Krystal Weir x2 time Olympian  ...

Krystal R&R back home in preparation for London

Krystal is now back in Australia after a very successful 3months overseas.  The past three months have flown by. The goal of the trip was to develop my skills and to perform a baseline qualification for Olympic selection. Overall I finished with a 5th ISAF Grade One Palma, 7th ISAF Grade One Hyeres, 1st ISAF Grade One Holland, 8th Sail for Gold Olympic Venue. I am happy with my progress over the past block and I am looking forward to the jumps I can make leading into London. I am now taking some time out to recharge the batteries before I head up to Sydney and Brisbane for a small camp before heading back to the UK for a three week training camp with my training partner...

Boltenhagen

We have arrived into Boltenhagen, Germany in preparation for the Worlds that begin in a weeks time. The full rig boys are currently racing in the tricky light conditions. The venus is a cute little town right up the top of Northern Germany which means we are dealing with some cold conditions. On Day one when we were unloading the boats & launching the coach boat it was 7degrees outside. We also found out that this resort is actually for cross country skiing as it is completely flat & freezing cold. Our accommodation is perfect and it definitely is made for the cold conditions as it is very cosy inside with a inside fire. We will be toasting marshmallows later on in the week for sure....

Hyeres ISAF Grade 1

It has been a great week of racing in Hyeres. We had a long week as many times we were sent out to race in 30knots to the outter course. Once we were all ready to race the commitee had trouble setting courses & sent us to shore. We would then sit onshore for an hour & be sent out again into the 30knots. Overall I am happy with my performance during the week. The finishing place of 7th is disappointing considering my abilities this week. I had a great week showing how close I am to podium time. Laura & I are on track towards London & looking forward to the next few weeks of training before the Worlds in Germany. ...

Krystal wins Womens Australian Nationals

After a tight battle with Tristan Brown of WA Krystal finishes second overall in the Open Laser Radial and first overall in the Womens.  It was a tough day on the water with another tricky easterly wind on Morton Bay. We had two races in under 10knots. In the first race I started towards the boat and played the shifts up the middle of the course while a group of young New Zealanders all headed out to the left. I rounded the top mark in 6th slowly climbing back to 4th spot. The next race I had a great start in the middle of the line, playing the shifts perfectly up the middle and protecting left where I could. I rounded the top mark with a comfortable lead...
