Krystal Weir selected for the London Olympics 2012

The AOC & the Australian Yachting Federation have selected Krystal Weir to compete at the 2012 London Olympics in the Laser Radial single handed womens class. Krystal recent winning performance in the ISAF Grade One Holland regatta helped secure her spot to London in 50 days time. Update on Perth Training, Sail Melbourne, Training at VIS & SYC adventures. Over the past two months Laura (my coach) and I have had two camps in Perth with Marit Bouwmeester of the Netherlands for Worlds preparation. Perth is the venue for the ISAF Worlds which is the Olympic country nomination and selection. The first camp was for two weeks and the second was a four-day racing regatta where we invited only the top girls to compete. Beijing Olympics Wrap-Up

As a team we put ourselves in a position to win. We have spent hours developing our up and downwind speed and our skills so that we can be a player. Opportunities will present themselves and it is those who are observant and patient to take them on the day that will win. In the first race of the Olympics we demonstrated that we had the potential as a crew to really shake up these Games as we comfortably went on to win the first heat. Countdown to Beijing Olympics

This is a pretty amazing update to write as we begin the last leg of the journey to the China Beijing Olympics. I have just come home (to the Village) from the Qingdao Family Lounge where the team members who couldn't attend the Opening due to their schedules of racing or preference watched the Opening. There was a great fun vibe in the room as the Aussie team enjoyed each others company with family and friends.
