Europe Tour Update 2010

I am now back in Australia after three months in Europe. Overall it was a pretty successful tour, with a 4th in Scheveningen Week, 5th Holland Regatta, 6th Kiel Regatta. My last event was the World Championships in Largs, Scotland where I finished in the back of the Gold fleet. It was a tough event and probably one of those regattas you look back on and learn a lot from. The event was running over 6 days but we only got proper racing in on the first 3 days. This teaches you how important the first few races of a regatta can be. Worlds 2010 Largs, Scotland was a very frontal venue that either had loads of wind or none at all. In the first race I was right up there playing with 3rd or 4th at times, the result didn't really...

Silver at Yngling Worlds

We, the Audi / Hamilton Island Australian Team, had a solid start in fairly strong wind, and backed this up with consistent placings on the remaining days. With the points being extremely close, we had to finish within 2 places of Germany in the Medal Race to hold on to our second place. We managed to do this, and so secured the silver medal. Making the Medal Race (Top Ten) was our goal- not counting on a podium finish in our second major international regatta as team! A focus on speed, smart racing and our own processes enabled us to handle the variety...
