Latest News from Krystal in November

It has been a hectic couple of months since my last update. I returned from the UK after ‘Sail for Gold’ regatta and jumped straight back into University. Assignments, Exams, Hospital Placement at Prince of Wales Hospital, this has been my life for the past 6 months.

Physiotherapy work at Sydney Uni has now finished and it is time to start full time training for the upcoming Laser season. In amongst the study I was able to do training from Double Bay Sailing Club and Middle Harbour Amateurs, compete in the Australian University Games and the recent NSW States Titles.

During September, I sailed with the Sydney University crew in Perth for the Australian University Championships (Match Racing). My main role on the boat was mainsheet trim and big picture strategy. It was a very fun experience sailing with Will Ryan, Ted Hackney, Jez Harrison, Josie Roper, & Edward Rigby. We finished a credible second to young Dave Gilmore WA Uni team (www.usydsailing.com)

Last weekend was the NSW States Titles on Botany Bay. It was a fun, yet windy regatta and a great way to get back into racing. I ended up winning the overall Radials while James Burman won the Open Lasers.

By the end of the week I will be returning home to Melbourne for a training camp down with the Victorian Institute of Sport at Sandringham Yacht Club in preparation for Sail Melbourne which begins on the 13th December.

Upcoming events are Sail Melbourne http://sailmelbourne.com.au/website/home.html

Sydney International http://www.sailsydney.org.au/

Laser Nationals http://www.laser.asn.au/1011nats/opennats.html

 Happy Sailing
Cheers
