Krystal Retires from Olympic Sailing 2000-2014

It has been an amazing journey from 2000 to 2014. Olympic Classes Yngling, RSX & Laser Radial.

I have had an absolutely amazing career in ‘Olympic Sailing’ with Two Olympics 2008 & 2012 (Yngling & Laser Radial), World Champion 2004 (Laser Radial), Seven Times Australian National Champion (Laser Radial), Three times ISAF World Cup Winner.

Over my career I have had many people influence my journey & I want to take the time to thank them for their support & guidance. My first coach Lex Bertrand for sending me on this amazing journey, you have helped shaped the person I am. Veolia Environmental Services for supporting me from a young age, Sandringham Yacht Club & its members for all their support, Victorian Institute of Sport & Yachting Victoria for taking me on at such a young age & getting me through my injuries over the years. Yachting Australia for all the many coaches who have been involved in my career.
I am also extremely grateful for all my training partners & friends I have made along the way xx

I am still as passionate about the sport of sailing as I was, when I was seven years old at Elwood Sailing Club. I am now continuing to support the dream with VIS Individual Athlete scholarship holders & also in helping identify new talent with the Victorian Laser Association to encourage & grow the next generation.

My exciting new challenge will be in my working life as a Physiotherapist. I have recently taken a new position with MHealth in Mentone, Melbourne.

In my sailing life; I will be competing in the Viper Cat & also the Hobie16 in 2016 World Championships.

I will continue to be an Ambassador for SYC, Sail Melbourne, VIS, Yachting Victorias ‘Girls School Sailing Regatta’, Harken Speed Team, Veolia (Motivational & team building public speaker), Tudor Insurance, VLA, Balance & Control, Juice Plus, Volvo & Zhik.

Thankyou to everyone who has been involved in my sailing career, you know who you are! There is no way that you can achieve your dreams without support. Big thank you to my parents Frank & Gail Weir & my sister Sam for all there devotion & sacrifice.

Believe, Dream, Achieve. No Limits in Life.
Just remember nothing great is ever achieved without enthusiasm.
