Yngling European Championships
Currently the team is in Riva Lake Garda for the Yngling Open Spring European Championships. As this was an open regatta Adrian our coach sailed onboard the boat in Karyn position while she went back to Australia to visit her family and attend the Yachting Australia Gala on behalf of the team.
During this regatta it was really valuable for the team to have Adrian actually sailing onboard the boat, he was able to help Angela and myself with lots of different aspects of racing. We ended up winning the regatta which is great as this gives us confidence into the next lot of racing.
After Hyeres regatta the team all had a short break going there separate ways to have a look at Europe. I decided after 3 years of doing Hyeres regatta in France that I probably should see the rest of the country. So I jumped onboard the band wagon of the windsurfer program and did a leg of the Tour de France ‘Nimes to Narbonne’160km on my road bike. It was really fun and a great way to see all the small towns in southern France. We then drove to Biarritz and then to Brest, I jumped onboard a train to Paris became a true tourist for two days and then met the rest of the team in Lake Garda.
The plan is to now drive to Holland for a small open regatta before the main event in Medemblik ‘Holland Regatta’. We then head off to China for some more training before home in June.
Thanks again to all the ongoing support from Yachting Australia, Australian Olympic Committee, Sandringham Yacht
Club and Veolia.
