Day Three Australian Laser Nationals

Krystal posts a 7, 2, 6 and sits in 4th after three days of racing

Today was just one of those days where you just cant seem to get it right. My goal of great starts for  this regatta is going well. With clear clean starts all day. The first race of the day, I had a perfect start at the boat end and extended out towards the left, the bulk of the fleet headed towards the right and gained, I tacked over to catch up but as this was happening a big left hand shift came. I just couldnt put myself in the right spot. I sailed the first lap and was wondering why I was going so slow! On the downwind I finally checked my rudder and found a large clump of seaweed on it… buggar

Race 2: Great start off the boat and played the shifts towards the right hand side of the track, I was working the boat really hard upwind and hiking flat chat. At the top end of the first beat I rounded with Jeremy O’Connell my training partner. We had a great battle all around the course right up until the finish where I had to settle for second.

Race 3 of the day I once again had a great start and really took off from the middle of the line. The wind did a big swing to the left as the gun went so I tacked straight away and crossed the fleet. Instead of consolidating this lead I tacked back towards the middle of the course. A large right hander came over and I just couldnt get back to the front pack from there. So I finished the race in 6th place.

Tonight is New Years Eve! so HAPPY NY EVERYONE! We have a rest day tomorrow before we start again on the 2nd. One more day of qualifying races and then Gold/ SIlver for the final two days
