Day Two Australian Nationals

Krystal comes home with a first in heat 3 in 25knots. Race 4 abandon due to too much wind.

Today was just one of those days where you love your sailing. We all sailed out to the course after the 4.7 and the full rigs… as we have a half hour delay on our start time. It’s tough for the race committee as there is 170boats on one course!

As the afternoon carried on the wind picked up from 15-20-25knots by the time we started. Within the 5minute gun our new Russian sailor yells out to me ” this is too windy for me” shaking his head. I on the other hand was loving it and just itching to burn off the start. I had a conservative start and sent it up wind. Jez my traiing partner and I were in for a tight battle around the course. As we went down the run I took a scuba diving lesson, plowing into the wave infront. I was fully swamped ..going extremely slow! Jez got a little jump on me around the bottom mark. Once we rounded the gate, Jez broke his boom, then rudder gudgeon, then cunningham..ruling him out of the race.

I took off on the downwinds and finished with a comfortable lead. Tomorrow should be a fun day with three races in breeze again!
