Worlds Wrap Up in Boltenhagen

Krystal finishes a disappointing 21st at the World in Boltenhagen. Yet posted some great results during the regatta with a 1st & 3rd going into Gold Fleet. It was a very tricky regatta in Boltenhagen Germany with 30 degree shifts mosts days or a slow persistent shift that you did not what to be the wrong side of. I had a great qualifying series heading into Gold Fleet in 6th place. During Gold fleet racing things just didnt fall my way. I had an incident with a ferry spectator boat that came across our course on day one, on day two tricky winds where i just didnt pick it right and on day three I had to do a 720 off the start line which is not...

Boltenhagen

We have arrived into Boltenhagen, Germany in preparation for the Worlds that begin in a weeks time. The full rig boys are currently racing in the tricky light conditions. The venus is a cute little town right up the top of Northern Germany which means we are dealing with some cold conditions. On Day one when we were unloading the boats & launching the coach boat it was 7degrees outside. We also found out that this resort is actually for cross country skiing as it is completely flat & freezing cold. Our accommodation is perfect and it definitely is made for the cold conditions as it is very cosy inside with a inside fire. We will be toasting marshmallows later on in the week for sure....

Hyeres ISAF Grade 1

It has been a great week of racing in Hyeres. We had a long week as many times we were sent out to race in 30knots to the outter course. Once we were all ready to race the commitee had trouble setting courses & sent us to shore. We would then sit onshore for an hour & be sent out again into the 30knots. Overall I am happy with my performance during the week. The finishing place of 7th is disappointing considering my abilities this week. I had a great week showing how close I am to podium time. Laura & I are on track towards London & looking forward to the next few weeks of training before the Worlds in Germany. ...

Delays delays Delays…

This trip I am not having the best travel luck as I keep missing flights or being delayed. This time I am postponed due to a Virgin Atlantic emergency landing, which has left the aircraft in the middle of the only runway at Gatewick airport. Fingers X that they move the plane before tomorrow and then I can make my way down to Hyeres, France for the next ISAF World Cup event. http://news.sky.com/home/uk-news/article/16209659 Luckily I am up in London with my friends and will enjoy some serious pub trivia tonight...

Krystal 5th @ Palma ISAF Grade One

Krystal finsihes 5th overall in her first ISAF European event It has been a busy few weeks in Europe. After a very long flight from Australia I finally made it to the small island off Barcelona called Palma. All the different classes are scattered around at different clubs around Palma. The lasers were at a cute tourist town call Can Pastilla. Yachting Australia set up coaching for the event for me with Fernando Alegre. He is a great coach who has helped me with boat on boat tactics and fleet strategy. I spent the regatta all ears on how to control boats around me. The regatta itself was tricky with the first half of the event being less than 5knots. Palma this year left a lot of top...

Update Krystal Weir "Wins WA Laser States"

Over the past month I have been training hard in Sydney and Melbourne with my training partner Jeremy O'Connel and coaches Laura Baldwin and Michael Blackburn. We have been utilising the National Training Centre at Middle Harbour Yacht Club. It has been a great couple of weeks squeezing in training and two regattas. The Victorian State Titles were run from Somers Yacht Club on Western Port Bay VIC. and the NSW State Titles were run from Gosford Sailing Club, NSW. Congrats to Jeremy who took out the VIC State Titles. Both these events were tricky ones for me as I found it hard to find my form after a month off sailing Lasers in January. I have recently returned from Western Australian were I competed in the...
