Europeans & Holland Wrap Up

It has been a busy couple of months traveling around Europe.  Firstly Holland Regatta where I finished 12th and Europeans Croatia where I was delivered two yellow flags to drop me right down the ranks of Gold Fleet.  I decided to come over to Europe earlier then originally planned to help  give me an indicator of where to focus my training. It has been a great adventure to find out my strengths and weakness's. I had a great block of training with my new coach Jared West and the Australian Sailing Squad. It has been great being back on the circuit and apart of a team again. Croatia for me was the biggest learning curve. Where my lack of time on water was evident. The level of competition has...

Australian Laser Womens National Champion 2013/14

Krystal Wins Australian Laser Radial Womens National Title 2013/14  in McCrae, Melbourne It was a tough event with predominately windy and shifty conditions. There were 95 boats competing over the course of the week. The VLA & McCrae Sailing Club did a great job throughout the week to run a smooth regatta. The Wilson brothers & Peter Merritt provided the race management team and a top jury team were selected for the event. Congrats to Matthew Wearn Full Rig overall winner, Tristan Brown overall Radial Winner. Special mention to my old training partner who has moved into the full rig Jeremy O'Connell who came second overall in the Full rigs. Good Work Jez! Amaroo Cruise

Make sure you head down to Amaroo cruise down at Forster! It was a great day of fun on the Whale watching boat. We set out at 10am leaving from a dock in the town centre. We then enjoyed a slow cruise through the oyster beds, past dolphins & set off out to sea to see some amazing whales. It was a great day and I highly recommend a visit when you are in the great lakes area....

Wild Cat @ Forster Great Lakes

WildCat Regatta was a fantastic event; great weather, great wind and great fun!             Over the long weekend down at Forster Great Lakes Sailing Club I competed in the Hobie 16 Cat in preparation for the worlds that are coming up in February. I was sailing with young Paige Caldecoat and at 12years of age and 45kg she did really well. My crew for the worlds Kingsley was busy running the courses on the commiteeboat. Local NEWS The Wildcat regatta is an annual event that hosts catamaran sailors from all over Australia. Everybody camps down at the club with lots of social fun. Day one we had moderate breeze where we posted a 9th, DNC and a 10th. We were coming third in our second heat but our block...

Sailing up North!

Krystal is up in Norther NSW jumping onboard different catamarans, learning the ropes.  Over the past three month I have been posted for work up in Kempsey NSW for three months with my physiotherapy job. In the mean time I have meet some amazing people who have introduced me to many different types of cat sailing. Over at the Great Lakes Sailing Club in Foster, John White and his sons Caleb & Ethan have been introducing me to the Hobie 16. It is a great club hidden in amongst palm trees in the middle of the bush. Kingsley Pursch who helps run the show down there is a keen cat sailor and my new crew for the Hobie 16 Open Worlds in Jervis bay in February. http://greatlakessailingclub.yachting.org.au/ Frank O'Rourke...
