Traveling across Europe is always testing at times, as we load all our boats, coach boats, bikes, sailing masts onto our cars and trek across Europe. This time we just took it all too far. We had two lasers double stacked ontop of the car with a coach boat and laser on a very small trailer traveling on the back. Late into our trip with only 160km to go before hitting Hamburg to pick up Nocka from the airport, black smoke hammered out of the back of the car, with the smell of burning rubber. I jumped on the breaks, and pulled over on the A1 Motorway ...
Krystal finishes 13th overall. Sail For Gold in Weymouth, UK has just finished and final results are in. I ended up 13th overall with 3 points off Medal race. Overall I am happy with my finals performance as I improved through out the racing. A few key decisions around marks and some more time in the gym is required to get up to scratch. On the third day of racing, I had an incident with an Argentinean on a layline and head butted the deck, the next day i went out and did it again in exactly the same spot. I had a massive egg on my head and a black eye. The next day I went out with tape around my head, very fashionably i looked...

I am back in Melbourne training out of Sandringham for the next Olympic Trial in Weymouth UK. I have just returned from a whirlwind trip that included Spain, Greece and France. My first event was in Palma Mallorca in April, after some exciting logistics I was ready to race. I had a very up and down event in Palma with some great results, my final day of racing didn’t go to plan which took me down the score card from 9th to 22nd overall. I then travelled down to Hyeres for some training with young Sam Meech of New Zealand. We had an intense week of training mainly working on my downwind speed. By the end of the week my confidence was back and I...
Over the weekend Krystal competed at the RSX National Championships at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. "RSX is a great sport for cross training for the Laser. It requires at lot of fitness and balance. The whole regatta was non-planning so it really put me to the test" The windsurfing program run by Brendan Todd is really developing with a great turnout of youths on Bic Techno and RSX. Big congratulations to James Levy for winning the Mens and Jessica Crisp for winning the Womens. Good Luck overseas crew! See you over there ...
Krystal finishes 19th after two disqualifications at Hyeres Regatta. After spending the week in fourth overall, Krystal received her second yellow flag for the regatta and a disqualification after a port- starboard incident off the start of race 7. "Overall I am feeling happy with my results, I came to Hyeres to work on my downwind speed and positioning around marks, i have achieved this and proved that I can mix it up with the top" http://sof.ffvoile.net/results/laserr.htm...
Over the past few weeks I have been training down in Hyeres, France with Sam Meech (NZL), then traveled across to Athens to meet up with Gelly for a formula windsurf event and my first trip to Greece. After some quick touring around the Acropolsis I was back on the plane down to Hyeres. Training begins tomorrow and racing begins on the 24th April. http://sof.ffvoile.net...
Overall a very tricky regatta. During the event I proved that I am up there mixing it up with the top girls, as I had two first place mark roundings and finished 3rd, and two fifths during the regatta. This is not a bad start to my European season. I have to say I was a little disappointed with my 22nd finishing place. The last day proved to be an important turning point in the regatta for me as I went into the day sitting in 9th. A yellow flag and a incident with another boat was the deciding factor. A big congratulations goes to Sara Winther NZL for winning the event. I am now heading to Hyeres, France for some training before heading back to Australia...
