Krystal finishes 8th Overall at Test Event

AST Day 12 Highlights Krystal finishes 8th overall after a very close medal race in Weymouth UK. Today was a very exciting race I was sitting in second position throughout the race after having a few great shifts up the first work but on the last downwind I was covered by a blanket of boats from behind. I lost 4 boats on the last 200m to the last mark to the finish. It was amazing to have the Australian crowd cheer me on from the point, I could hear all the chanting..very exciting and for sure I hiked harder! Overall it was a great regatta, and a good way to see into the future for next year. I am  definitely in the medal hunt for 2012. Bring it on!...

Day Three Test Event

Day Three of the Test Event, 25knots out on the south course. Finished with a 2nd and 6th http://www.australiansailingteam.com.au/?Page=54894 Today was windy out on the south course, we had more wind and waves then any other day so far. In the first race I was leading for the whole race, with a really tight battle with Marit. I was able to hold her off for three laps of the course, she just got passed me on the last run into the finish which was disappointing but also great for confidence for racing in the future. The second race was another tight battle between the first five boats, I lost a few places on the  downwind runs, I am working hard with Laura my coach to tighten up...

Krystal Selected for Olympic Test Event & Australian Sailing Team

It has been a great trip so far with a great result in Kiel, which helped in my selection onto the Australian Sailing Team and the Olympic Team test event spot. I have just returned from a weeks sailing in Finland. We had the European Championships for all classes based out of Helsinki. It was a tough regatta with mostly light conditions under 5knots. I had an up and down championship finishing 12th overall. I am happy with my result in these trying conditions. It was an exciting trip back down to the UK as our car has a mind of its own and decides to start when it wants to. We took each stage of the trip on bit by bit, keeping it a “flexible” program...

Krystal Finishes 2nd in ISAF Grade One KIEL

Krystal finishes 2nd in ISAF Grade One, Kiel Germany. Kieler Woche Regatta in Germany was a tough event, with 15+knots in shifty, pre-frontal conditions. Overall I am happy with my racing, there were a few moments through the regatta where I could have consolidated my position. It was a very high scoring event with Paige USA, Tatiana BLR and Tina CRO. There was also a good group of Germans competing. This regatta was the final event for the Olympic Test Event Selection for Australia. With this recent result it has qualified me for the Australian Sailing Team (AST) & Test event in Weymouth (August). I want to thank the Kampen Family for helping me throughout the week and also my coach Nocka for all his help and input. I...
